PSP emulators GBA, SNES, Nintendo 64

Here, i will try list all the emulator’s for your psp and make instructions on how to get your roms running on them, i have three made so far and more to come basically once you get one going the rest should work similarily. GBA Super Nintendo Nintendo 64

Downgrade psp from 3.50 - 1.51 down to 1.50

Here I will list all of the Downgraders available for your psp. Fully set up for you, so you’s can have confidence on what your doing. There are downgrader’s out there for the psp, that were beta and have been updated by there creater’s, but some people still host the old ones, which i think are not safe enough to give you’s. The bad\old ones i have been talking about flash a dump of a 1.5’s firmware onto your psp, so your psp becomes a 1.5, but are very risky. The one’s i will be hosting flash official Sony 1.5 eboots, so you get a clean install each time , it uses basically the same process that sony uses when you upgrade the psp but in our case the psp is been downgraded. So I will only give you’s which one’s in my eyes are safe, contradiction sorry the 1.5 to 1.0 downgrader is not very stable but i find the downgrade quite pointless. so you are better off without, but i will just put a link to it, for those you are curious, so be warned. . All this software has been tested by myself personally. At the start i had one psp and when i finished i still had one psp. Anything that happens while downgrading i cannot be held responsible. downgrade Link click here!(from calohacks)

UPMS - pandora’s battery

his tutorial will teach you how to install the UPMS Pandora JigKick system which can be used to repair Bricked/Semi-Bricked PSP’s as well as downgrade any current Sony OFW PSP (I.e. anything that hasn’t got a custom firmware).

This tutorial has been a couple of week’s in the making with a lot of playing around with camera’s, and programs whilst trying to make this as easy as possible for everyone to use. Hopefully we’ve done that and hopefully you’ll now know how to create the Pandora JigKick system safely and easily.

3.90 m33 update 2 CFW

Homebrew developer Dark_AleX has released the latest custom firmware for the PlayStation Portable with CFW 3.90 M33. This new build fixes yet another bug connected to the March33 NO UMD.

Team M33 3.90 Custom Firmware
Requirements:
   - CFW 3.52 M33-3 or higher already installed before updating

Here’s the specifics on the update taken from the Readme:
   - March33 NO UMD: fixed (yet another) bug related with exiting with home. (infinite semaphore wait)

The developer also noted the changes in the auto-updater function that was included in the previous version of CFW 3.80. He’s noted some instability with the latest version of the updater. Should this happen, Dark_AleX mentions that you should restart the installer and try again.

In any case, here’s the list of changes to the updater:
   - The degeneration check and correction of IDS keys happens too in 3.71 now.
   - Added code to download 3.90 PBP from net via wifi. Note that his code is not yet 100% stable, it may crash when selecting AP. In that case, reinitialize the installer.
   - L-Trigger + Triangle Button has been restored as method to bypass battery. If you already have 390.PBP keep those buttons pressed until you see "Veryfing 390.PBP". If the 390.PBP is being downloaded via wifi, press those buttons at the end of download until you see the previous sentence.

We strongly advise you to take a look at the Readme.txt file for more details on how to install the latest custom firmware on your PSP handheld.

Team M33 3.90 CFW Update 2
Dark_AleX has released Update 2 for 3.90 M33.  The new CFW 3.90 M33-2 improves much of the plugins since the previous version, as well as adds in a couple of patches specifically for the PSP Slim & Lite.  Anyway, to keep it simple here’s a list of the new changes noted in the latest version of CFW 3.90 M33-2:
   - Improvements in plugins loading code:
   - Fixed some problems with problematic cards due to filesystem not mounted.
   - Now plugins should read the faster.
   - Problem fixed with lines with spaces at the end.
   - Added the rest of regions to the recovery option fakeregion.
   - (PSP SLIM): Added patches in nand ipl to allow Booster multiiplloader and TimeMachine iplloader to boot from nand.

Please also note that only CFW 3.90 M33-2 and higher can be booted from the Slim’s nand with the ipl loaders mentioned. As for the network updater, here’s what’s new:
   - The 3.90 eboot downloading code is now more stable, no more freezes after selecting AP
   - Memory stick write in the 3.90 downloading code is delayed the maximum possible for faster operation (the system prefers big chunks of data written at once).

To install the latest update manually, make sure that you already have CFW 3.90 M33 installed on your PSP and simply copy the update folder to /PSP/GAME and run the program.
We strongly advise that you take a look at the Readme.txt file for more details on how to install the latest custom firmware on to your PSP. You can download CFW 3.90 M33-2 below.

1.50 Kernel Add-on Version 2 for 3.90 M33 (Phats Only)
Dark AleX has updated his site again, releasing version 2 of the 1.50 kernel addon for the Sony PlayStation Portable Fat. This update currently works with your PSPs with CFW 3.90 M33.

Here’s the changelog for Dark_AleX’s 1.50 kernel addon version 2:
   - TA086: when being in 4th brightness level and recovering from sleep mode, the display was black. Fixed.
   - Added support in the 1.50 kernel for memory sticks greater than 4 GB. Before, only the first 4 GB portion was recognized by the 1.5 kernel. Now, the theroetical limit is 2 Terabytes. ("only" 1 TB, if sony were using signed variables).

To install this update, just copy to /PSP/GAME and then run. Enjoy!

I’m sure a revised PopsLoader will be released shortly, too.  Cheers to DAX!

Notes:
1 - I tried the network update (from 3.80 M33-5) only to get an error code on the first try and crashes on every attempt after that when initializing the network connection to download the 3.90 EBOOT file.
2 - I manually downloaded the 3.90 OFW, from the link above, renamed it to 390.pbp and copied it into the UPDATE folder (containing M33’s files) within the PSP / GAME folder.
3 - Started the 3.90 M33 PSP Update from within the XMB.
4 - Pressed the L-Trigger and the Triangle Button down when the updater started, released them when "Verifying 3.90.pbp" was displayed.
5 - Followed the Sony Updater Q&A and pressed X at the end of the update.
6 - I am running 3.90 M33 on my Slim and my Phat (w/ 1.5k add-on)… easy.

Easy Installer Update
Lewishamilton, PSPNerd and Stiffmeister have developed a 3.90 M33 Easy Installer program (now on version 2) for the PSP, which should allow you to upgrade to 3.90 M33 on Windows 2000, XP and Vista machines.  The main problem you might have with this installer is the fact that it’s not completely in English. That being said, if you want to activate the installation procedure on your PSP, just select the drive letter that corresponds to your PSP, and then click on "Installeren." That should get everything up and running.

As for what the developers have to say, here’s what was in version 1:
   - This version is still in development stage. But comes very rapidly v2 with kernel and sits there nicely. Then no longer goes that by means of winrar.
   - As the malignant and lite kernel ends up we let us do that also.

And here’s the changelog for v2:
   - Additional steps to determine if you’re using a PSP Slim or Phat
   - If you want to add the 1.50 Kernel or not to the easy installation procedure (for Phats only)
   - 1.5 Kernel added
   - Vista compatibility added

Note that this doesn’t have a homebrew, and the developers give you a warning about the possibility of bricking your PSP via this procedure. If you’re the type who wants to simplify the upgrading process, though, then you still might want to give this application a go.

In any case, for those of you who want a relatively quick and painless process for upgrading your firmware, then you may want to try this out. Enjoy!

Fat vs Slim

February 28, 2008

 frontbackside

Details of the new PSP announced this week: It’s a slimmer build and noticeably lighter when in hand. There is a glossy coat over the paint job, WLAN/Wi-fi switch moved to top of unit next to UMD drive. The UMD chassis has been streamlined; no awkward slide button to pop it open just a little groove you slip your thumb under and it pops out (much better). Sony has confirmed that additional RAM has been added to improve UMD load times in games. The battery is far, far lighter (and smaller). Plugging in a PSP Fat battery will give nearly double battery life according to Sony because the new PSP is far more "fuel efficient." The speakers have moved; they’re close to the top of the unit, above your thumbs, and the D-pad and four action buttons have been vastly improved; they feel great, much more like PS3 controller. Includes HD video/audio out. Retails for $169. Due this September.
